An Exciting New Voice in Reverse Harem

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of a book by a new reverse harem author. Rowan Thalia has recently released her first book Binding Rayne, it's the first in a trilogy which is quick releasing over the next few months and she also has another trilogy coming soon.

Binding Rayne was really exciting to me, here's my review that I have posted to Amazon and Goodreads, but I wanted to discuss it a bit more in depth here.

Binding Rayne by Rowan Thalia starts off as a ghost story but soon turns into an epic reverse harem saga. A team of under the radar, paranormal investigators are sent to a creepy hotel and a cabin in the woods to find a woman who has gone missing. Basically, ghosts scare them all, then it gets really crazy, demons, shifters, witches and a damn good ghost spooking combine with reverse harem in an epic new way. I loved the good old ghost story feeling and once the story started to expand and wee hints of what we can expect next came into it, I was sucked right in. Although a lot of these themes are in other paranormal reverse harem books, I truly heard a new voice in Thalia. I will be waiting with baited breath for the next two books in the series!

There was a few things that made me pay attention more in this book. Firstly the settings, I could practically smell the musty old cabin and see the forest in my head. The descriptions were well tied into the story telling, so I didn't feel like I was being taken out of the action to be told where we were. The ghostly spookiness of it was incredibly well written. I love a good horror movie or story and the goosebumps were out on my entire body for a good portion of the book! It brought back memories of reading Christopher Pike and point horror novels when I was a teen. And I loved the characters. Yes there was definitely a bit of alpha male behaviour, but one thing I loved was that the guys were all incredibly respectful. Rayne herself is a fantastic MC and I can't wait to see how she evolves as she gains more knowledge of herself and her powers.

Here's a few links for you and I hope that you will read and enjoy (and review!) Rowan's books. I wish her all the success in the world!
